How is the american red cross association considered to be heroes?

The term "hero" has been, in my opinion, too broadly defined. However, a hero should 1) be a volunteer, 2) be prepared to make some sacrifice of time, resources, abilities for the sake of someone in dire straits.

The ARC fits these qualities.

Which CPR classes are better, the ones from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association?

I'm a nursing student and I need CPR certification. I don't know which classes are better, the ones from the Red Cross or the ones from the American Heart Association. The American Heart Association seems to be cheaper, but I don't know if they provide the textbooks or if you have to buy them, b/c it says it's only $35.00, and the red cross classes are like $60.00. I would appreciate your help in this regard. thanks!

It all depends on the area or potential employer. The big 3 AHA, American Red Cross and the American Safety and Health Institute all use the same set of standards which are developed jointly. The standards are set by the ECC or Emergency Cardiovascular Care Committee. On this committee all 3 organizations are represented. But to answer your question, in general AHA is the most widely recognized and accepted by Health care facilities.

American Heart Association and American Red Cross in regards to CPR?

Have First Aid and CPR training from the Red Cross. Never knew that AHA had training as well. There is one down the road, and will have to renew my CPR for the year soon. Was thinking of taking the class. Is there a difference between the courses? Is one more widely accepted than the other? Thanks for the feedback.

They are teaching the same courses. If you can always take a class online to save the time and money from having to seek out a Red Cross or AHA class.

There are several good online courses. I used National CPR Certification.

It seems rather straight forward.

Just make sure you use a Nationally recognized class.

American Heart Association and American Red Cross classes for cpr and first aid cost?

how long is the class

it's been a long time since I've had to pay for these, but they should be less than $60?

and the classes are usually several hours long, but less than a day.

CPR....American Heart Association or American Red Cross?

Is there a difference in the way the two are taught? I went through the instructor course for AHA. I am being lecutred by a co-worker that the Red Cross is much better. I could use your opinions.

There are a lot of differences in details and the way they are taught but are all based on the same research.

The biggest visible differences are that the ARC certified for 1 year, AHA for 2, and that ARC focuses on the flow of the emergency (Check Call Care), while AHA focuses on skills.

Both argue their way is better, both have a solid case.

However, consider this...

In layperson CPR- who cares? Laypeople will do CPR so rarely that about 1 in 1000 will ever use any of the skills they learn. Most people take the class because they have to (work requirement) or because they live with someone at risk.

In CPR for the Professional Rescuer or BCLS, the AHA class comes closer to what paramedics need to know than the ARC class does.

The ARC/AHA 'feud' is sort of like the classic 'Ford vs Chevy' or sports teams rivalries. It is based more on emotion than fact or logic.
