American Red Cross Babysitter Training

Answers

Anyone need a babysitter?

I'm proud to announce my daughter just finished an American Red Cross Babysitter Training Course! she's 11 & I'm proud. I think it's a big deal. It's good to have those skills including 1st aid. What do you think?

I'm proud that you were thoughtful enough to put her in the Red Cross training. My daughter also took it and it a great sitter. Be sure to tell all her prospective employers that she has this training. I think it makes her worth a little more as a sitter.

Im looking to begin babbysitting i dont know where to start?

I took the american red cross babysitters training but im not sure how to go about advertising. Also im 14 how much should i charge?

I took that training, too. Or one like it offered by a hospital.
Network through your parents, your friends, your neighbors and any community or church group you belong to. As a parent myself, I'm much more likely to trust someone who I know or knows someone I know. The more people you babysit, the more likely they will be to refer you to someone else. We moms are always eager to know where to get a good baby sitter. And make sure you point out that you've had training. You could even get some business cards made. You can print some out on your computer. Put your name and phone number, your baby sitting services and training. Then pass them out to moms that you know. That way when they need a sitter, they can just pull your card out.
If you live in an apartment building or are a member of a church, there might be a bulletin board where you post a flyer. Include the same info as above and put your number down on the bottom where they can tear it off. Try to make sure you sound enthusiastic on your flyer.
I'm lucky, I don't have to pay a babysitter so I can't really tell you what the going rate is. If you have any friends who babysit, ask them what they make. Don't undervalue yourself, though. You could call a few day care centers in your area and ask how much they charge. Figure that's twice as much time as you'll be spending plus you won't be providing any meals so I guess divide by half and subtract five dollars. Extra kids are extra money, but don't just double your fee. Determine a standard extra amount per child.
Good luck!

How does this flyer sound so far?
