Hi all. I am brainstorming for activity ideas for my american red cross club in my high school. My club can not make fundraisers because it's against school rules. And we are already going to do a blood drive. Already wrote letters to soldiers, made cards for the senior citizens and hospital patients and made sandwiches for the poor. What could we do which is more interactive and interesting? I've contacted a senior citizen center which might not work out. I have a group of more than 60 members in the club. What are some safe projects other clubs had done? It would be great to interact with people and their problems more than just making cards and having constant parties. There should be another purpose for this club because I want to raise leaders out of it. The Blood drive is a long time away and we are prepared for it already.but what could we do this spring? Got any more ideas?
It would help a lot. =]
And if i would like to invite a professional to teach our members CPR and first aid basics how could i do that? I know that we'd need certificates but would it be possible for trainers to come in and teach all of us and help us get certifications? The club would be a lot more valuable then
The activities your Red Cross club has done should be applauded. If your members were interested, they could do a community clean up event. I was hoping to implement this book donation project at my school. Perhaps you could do it as well?
And your Red Cross Chapter should be able to help you out in finding a CPR instructor if you ask nicely enough. Best of luck.
I really stress the book donations. Here are some good organizations to check out:

Okay, sounds sketch, but I swear I'm certified. I need to show my cpr card for a personal trainer test and I can't find it. I would reschedule but they are being nazi's about rescheduling. I've been CPR certified for about 5 years and have taken 4 different CPR and first aid classes, and it's a huge bummer to be SoL now. Any advice?
PS online tests don't count, it has to be red cross, american heart, st. john's ambulance, or american health and safety institute.
Nah the only thing you are given is the card, and unfortunately I don't have time to get it replaced.
The course itself is not hard, the 1 day courses I've taken were simple just tedious. The last time I took it was part of a school class at college, and it was more difficult because instead of an 8 hour class one day it became a 4 hour a week class for 10 weeks, and everything got way more in depth.
Seriously, don't do it. Get in touch with the organization that issued the card and ask for a replacement. Forging such things is actually illegal, whether you have the right to have the card or not. The potential risks are much greater than the benefits.

REFERENCES: Will furnish up on request
Objective- it is okay, yet ordinary.
Education- put the clinical hours of the two hospitals you were in and sorry to say this does not count as your professional experience at all because you are still a student so if something goes wrong, whoever is responsible for you gets the boot, eg: clinical instructor, tech so their licenses are on the line but you'll only get a slap in the wrist compared to them. if you have room, put the type of machines you were using. pUT the date when you begun the program and end the program in nm program and your sales program. Put "Eligible for the blah blah registry exam and when will you be able to take it" and also "Eligible for the State license if it is applicable to your state regulations."
Licenses- fine. when you pass your registry and attain ur state license if applicable, put it here.
Experience-unfortunately like I said clinical education does not count due to the reason I just said. do you have any at all that relates to your occupation like EMT, transporter, have you ever worked in a hospital or with people period. If anything, put the work experience, what you had before. DON'T PUT IT ALL BECAUSE YOU MUST MAKE YOUR RESUME TO A PAGE ONLY! One little note, DONT MAKE SENTENCES, MAKE FRAGMENTS WITH IMPORTANT VERBS THAT ARE UNDERSTANDABLE. It seems your work experience deal with different t ypes of peole so put it but remember A PAGE OF A RESUME. so leave things out if you have to. Either way you do have zero experience in the field like any graduate does in the nm program unless you worked in the health field before as a blah blah, then say that, eg: RN, RT(R), RTR, etc.
Skills: where is it? do you speak any other language, are you good with computers? , are you competent with venipuncture? Here's this one you can use from me:
Able to adapt to any environment when necessary.
Advices: dont make sentences again, make good fragments with verbs that stand out. Use bulletins and make everything aligned.
Good luck. by the way do any means necessary to find a job, intern, know people, network, know other modalities (MR, x ray, CT scan and get registered).
For each of these certifications what is the: price, length of time, difficulty, description of course, and where to take them?

3. BSIS certifications for the carry of pepper spray and baton (straight, side-handle and collapsible)
4. American Red Cross First aid/CPR and AED certification course.
5. Taser ECD certification course

You can almost all the courses above online or in-person at the National Security Enforcement Training Center (www.nsetc.com). PC 832 is an Academy course and can only be completed at POST certified training centers (Police Academies and many community colleges.) American Red Cross CPR First Aid
There are two generally accepted organizations that offer CPR/First Aid classes: The Red Cross and the American Heart Association. Either organization will teach you important skills that could someday make a huge difference in someone's life. If you are looking at pursuing a higher level of medical training, I would recommend an American Heart Association course, as they are more often accepted as the standard for healthcare professionals. Keep in mind that becoming certified in CPR doesn't really "allow" you to do anything more, it simply gives you a better understanding of what to do in an emergency than the untrained person would know. It also doesn't "require" you to act, should an emergency present itself. Many people have the fear that if they learn CPR, then they are required to perform it and perform it correctly if the situation arises. This is not true. However, most people who have received the training would have an ethical responsibility to act,...
