This is a great song for a great organization. It was part of a corporate video we made for the Red Cross after 9/11.
In my class we kind of have to write a research paper. Mine is on the American Red Cross , part of this paper is to wite a bibliography. I can't remember what a bibliography is, i know how retarded, and how do i write one on the red cross.
A bibliography is different from a Works Cited page.
Bibliography is a sampling of books on a particular topic, usually encompassing the major works in that literature and some contrasting opinions.
Works Cited is a listing of books, magazines, journals, etc., from which information is taken to write the paper.
Depending on what type of writing style you are using (MLA, APA, Chicago, Turban), you will either write a Bibliography or a Works Cited page.
If a specific writing style hasn't been assigned, usually MLA or APA is accepted.
In general, a Bibliography is an alphabetical list (by last name of author) of all the works you've cited, referenced or utilized.
The authors name, with last name and a comma and initials, goes first. Then the Title of the work (in quotes if it is an article, italicized if it is a periodical, underlined if it is a book) Example:
Keynes, J. M. <u>A General Theory of Interest and Wages.<u> London: Houghton-Mifflin Co., 1938.
Tobin, J. "Towards a More Economically Just Society." <I>Econometrica<I> Vol. 47. Univ. of Chicago Press, May 1963.

I am a volunteer for the American Red Cross, and have been for several years. I am on call after-hours for Armed Forces Emergency Service needs (I help families of those serving in the armed forces to get messages to their soldier / sailor / marine / airman, and vice versa.).
After a very few, but very well-publicized, instances of misconduct on the part of Red Cross workers in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the organization has declared that no one may volunteer without submitting to not only an CRIMINAL background check, but also a CREDIT inquiry.
If I were in a position to have my hand in the cookie jar, as it were, I would be better able to understand this. As it is, I am doing a job for which they would have to hire someone -- a job that intrudes on my personal life considerably, with calls at all hours of the night. In effect, I have chosen to do them a favor, and yet they want to know if I pay my JC Penney bill on time, or if I have a student loan.
What say you?
In your particular case, I would be more inclined to ask what the information was being used for. Obviously, criminal background checks that come back with bad news might be cause to ask a volunteer to leave the organization.
But what if you DON'T pay your J.C. Penney bill on time and your credit is bad? Does that mean that the ARC will say, "Hey, thanks for all those years of helping us out, but now we know you're poor or at least not paying your bills in a timely fashion, so we don't want your help any more."? As someone who also volunteers, I would be horrified if this happened to me or any of my fellow volunteers. There are really so few of us, how can organizations afford to turn us away based on a credit score?
However, if the credit background checks are simply being used as a way to discourage con-artists from even starting the volunteer process, that would be a little different, although I'm sure a lot of honest, good-hearted people would also be discouraged as well.
Best of luck to you. Thank you for giving your time to such a worthy cause. You are always appreciated!
Any helpful suggestions please on book titles to look for that will give me information on the American Red Cross in England during the Second World War?
Why would the American Red Cross have anything to do with the UK or England?
The International Red Cross has branches across the world. The American Red Cross is just one of these based in the USA.
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement started in 1863, inspired by a Swiss businessman, Henry Dunant.
He proposed the creation of national relief societies, made up of volunteers, trained in peacetime to provide neutral and impartial help to relieve suffering in times of war.
In response to these ideas a committee, which later became the International Committee of the Red Cross, was established in Geneva. The founding charter of the Red Cross was drawn up in 1863.
The formation of the International Red Cross - 1863.
The formation of the British Red Cross - July 1870.
The formation of the American Red Cross in - May 1881.
I know American Red Cross Month was in March, but I have to make lesson plans for the entire school year, and next March is included in that. See, my neighbor has paid me to homeschool her daughter, who does not do good in a public school setting. So, I need to know how to do a lesson plan for American Red Cross Month.
You need to define your objective first of all. What is it that you want the girl to learn? This might involve researching the Red Cross and deciding what to take from that info.
Then you think of ideas on how to meet those objectives: worksheets, games, brainstorming activities, field trips, interviews....
Of course, you need to decide how many lessons you will have for the month and how you will assess her work.

American Red Cross Passes the $100 Million Mark in Aid for Haiti Earthquake Relief and Recovery
WASHINGTON, Wednesday, March 10, 2010 — The American Red Cross today announced it is allocating an additional $24.4 million for Haiti earthquake relief and recovery, increasing its total commitment to date to $106.4 million.
The Red Cross made its funding announcement the same day that Haitian President Rene Preval is visiting the White House to discuss the urgent need for more aid from the international community to help that island nation recover from the January 12th earthquake.
The latest allocation of funds by the American Red Cross includes $16.1 million to support the construction of transitional shelters that will be coordinated by the global Red Cross network; $3.7 million will go to Habitat for Humanity for the purchase of emergency shelter materials, and $4.6 million will support cash grants to 16,000 families so they can buy essential items as part of a program to be run in close coordination with Haiti’s largest microfinance institute, Fonkoze .
