Go to Peakoil.org or do an internet search on peak oil to read all about how we are all going to meet our end.
110 years from now everyone will be asking the same question. As oil increases in price it becomes more and more feasible to prospect and extract oil that hasn't been counted as reserves due to the high cost of extracting it. Same thing with alternative fuels like ethanol and biodiesel . Price of fuel rises and at some point ethanol becomes competetive. Electric cars - same deal.
you'll still be able to drive bubba its just going to cost more and more and more.
It just seems counter productive for teenagers to be able to have children when they are at the most mentally confused time of a person's life. Why is this possible?
Could it be that we are really at our peak during our teenage years and society has caused this mental confusion?
Perhaps thousands of years ago teenagers were just as able to look after babies as older people.
I feel like humans could advance much farther if we were able to completely control our animal urges. For example, it is proven in history that the less food and survival stress there is, the more the mind was able to develop because people had the time and energy to devote to things like religion, science, arts, etc. If we could rid ourselves entirely of our urges for food and sex, would we reach our mental peak? Or do you think it does not matter?
Humans are still fight or flight animals, intellectual abilities are through understanding, control and experience. When that is achieved i.e. food, shelter and a safe place to be intellectual abilities could develop farther through money exchanges, and could also be its' down fall - each and everyone is an entity among entities with different agendas, wants and haves and being selfish - human nature...

Many centuries ago, when your religion had its early followers, wasn't the peak fertility rates (and marriage age) far far younger than the national average age of 26 now?
I mean, wasn't it easier back then for people to wait until marriage since marriage was often arranged by family members and came before settling into an occupation?
Therefore, wouldn't asking people to "wait until marriage" be a bit unrealistic in modern society, since there are new and different social needs for survival?
(Please STAR this question!)
LOL.
Doesn't work that way I am afraid. You are only trying to justify "modern society's" immoral actions.
God Bless
I have studied peak oil for about 5 years now and yes I understand the low hanging fruit is gone. I understand the price of oil will continue to rise. I understand and fully agree with finding and using viable alternative energy. The reality is that the entire infrastructure of our country is based on petroleum & petroleum products. Until we can support viable alternative energy, the reality is that we still need oil and for more than just the gas that goes into our cars - it is a matter of survival. Look at the food supply alone from the ground to your table is fully dependant on petroleum products - pesticides, herbicides, packaging, the asphalt that the trucks and our cars drive on to transport it to our stores and homes and the diesel fuel and gasoline -AND- on things powered by our current infrastructure - irrigation, conveyor belts, tractor trailers, plowing/sowing/harvesting equipment, lighting and electricity for preparation plants ... can we rule drilling out just yet?
To answer your question "How would disagreeing with drilling and building refineries make anyone a hypocrite?" It's simple, do you ever eat food from a store? If the answer is yes and you are against drilling then you are a hypocrite. You want to have your cake and eat it too.
A drop in the bucket is better than an empty bucket. A day will come when people will be begging for a drop in the bucket if we don't fix the problem. I think it will be easier for us to research and develop alternative energy sources if we do so while securing as many energy options as possible.
Well stated.
As you point out, even if everyone in this nation committed to be green tomorrow (which won't happen), you will still need a period of transition before the alternatives can go online. You will need a larger period of time to develop new alternatives and then put those online as well.
In the meantime, the only logical solution is to make our current fuel as available as possible, whether that means by lowering our demand through conservation or increasing our supply.
EDIT: While I agree with Tha Dude's statement that basically says, "If there is a limited resource, we should use someone else's first before we use our own", I think the time has come to tap into our own. Our current dependence has made us too vulnerable already.

Thanks for the Video. Some of us have to live vicariously and I personally love hearing others voices and seeing people enjoying what they are doing. I cannot go camping accept maybe once or twice a year and cooking has to be done quickly. (I cannot wait to the kids are on there own) anyway please make more videos and maybe some dutch oven/cast iron cooking for one or two.
